We’re designing an affordable housing building in Bedstuy. I wanted to ensure I was capturing ideas supporting cultural roots and overlapping cultural backgrounds in the community, growth and evolution evolution in the community, all the while being faced with multiple adverse challenges including but not limited to; challenges associated with living in the city, challenges associated with living low income, and challenges associated with limited resources but large population. The repetition in the middle represents the layering of evolution and change and poses as the connection between the beauty you see on the surface and the roots that structured it all.

Hurricanes & Trees

The Design will be a mashup of inspiration from hurricanes and trees.

Based on my analysis:

Hurricanes represent something chaotic that when contained becomes a beautiful experience. This reminds me of commuting in NYC.

Trees represent growth, evolution, and togetherness. This reminds me of schools.
